Visual Artist & Researcher — Gaza / Sweden
A visual artist and researcher whose work explores human values under siege, materializing the links between geographic and physical amputation and the impact of colonialism through conceptual and installation art.
Born 1987 in Saudi Arabia, Majdal Nateel is an artist from a Palestinian refugee family who grew up in Gaza. She received her Bachelor of Arts in Fine Art from Al-Aqsa University in 2009 and is currently based in Sweden.
Her artistic research has developed across many contexts. Early works drew on lived experience, translating the reflections of individual cases on society — among them Memory's Salt (2011) and The Impact of Light and Glass (2013).
After 2014, her practice turned toward searching for the value of humanity under political challenge — the repeated threat of war and the ongoing blockade of Gaza. Works such as If I Was Not There (2014), Without Coffins, and The Dream is Possible each gave artistic form to lives, losses, and dreams that resist erasure.
